Although our business has grown over the years, we have always been committed to providing the highest quality care for our animals. We believe in upholding the industry’s highest ethical principles and animal welfare practices. Our team members in every stage of production provide quality care to every pig, every day.
The Farm
Ronnfeldt Farms, Inc. utilizes strict bio-security protocols to help prevent diseases on our farm, allowing us to ensure the well-being of our animals. We employ the ‘We Care’ principles as outlined by the National Pork Board which includes:
- Challenging employees, on and off the farm to engage in Ronnfeldt Farms animal welfare policy
- Participation in Pork Quality Assurance certification and site assessments
- Continuous review of training, policies and standard operating procedures and engagement in industry best practices
THE LAND
As farmers, we are recyclers and manure is a natural fertilizer. We apply the pig’s manure to the land, the land grows the corn, corn is fed to the pigs, pigs make manure, and the cycle begins again. We test the land prior to manure application to ensure the land receives the proper levels of nutrients it needs for the next crop cycle. Sustainability, through every step of “farm to fork”, is key.
The manure we apply to the land is injected directly into the soil instead of being spread on the surface. This helps reduce odor as well as the potential for runoff.
ENVIRONMENT
Farmers have an obligation to take care of the environment. We are not just beneficiaries of the land, but benefactors. Consumers and future farmers are counting on us.
Our families have lived on this land for generations and we remain devoted stewards of the land, water and air. The owners reside in close proximity to several barns operated by Ronnfeldt Farms. We are committed to preserving the environment…. for our family and yours.
